Who is the Wiko U feel lite for?
Priced at Kshs 15,000 the device is affordable. It sits in a very competitive price bracket in a market filled with very capable budget devices. To edge out the competition, the Wiko U feel lite needs something special to stand out. Here are a few things you should know about it
Its size
For a person who isn’t easily swayed by big screened devices, the 5 inch screen and small form factor of the Wiko U feel lite was very welcome. It feels fantastic in the hand and fits comfortably in my pocket. It comes with a removable back that when opened gives you access to the Dual micro SIM card slots, micro SD slot and removable battery.
This phone is beautiful
I have the rose gold option here that is quite thin, light weight and curvy in all the right places. We have rounded corners, a rounded rectangular home button/finger print scanner, the rear camera is in the middle with the LED flash right below it, with a curve up above almost implying that the camera bump interrupted the original lines. They call this a neo retro design.
It comes at a 720 x 1280 pixels screen resolution with a screen density of 294 dpi.
Functionality
It comes with a Mediatek 6735 processor clocked at 1.30 GHz supported by 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of RAM that is expandable upto 64GB. Software wise it comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Wiko’s customized operating system, My OS on top of it giving yo extra functionality.
We have specialized apps like phone assist which is a hub to manage all your application settings, application notifications, black lists, permission manager and performance optimization tools.
Finger print scanner
No longer is this option left for the high end phones. It’s a feature that is becoming more accessible with lower priced devices and that is a good thing. Many manufactures at this level take more risks. It is not enough to just unlock the device. Wiko will not only give you the normal ‘unlock device with your fingerprint’ it takes it a step further and allows you to set up different functions to be launched with each registered fingerprint (only 5 can be registered)
On mine I have on thumb to unlock the device, the other thumb to dial a contact, one index finger to launch the camera and the other to open up Telegram and the last one launches a game. These are my most frequently accessed applications and the convenience of going straight to them right from the unlocked screen saves some time (seconds at most) and looks cool to show off with.
The Camera
It comes with an 8MP primary rear camera and a 5MP front shooter. It has several modes from HDR to Professional modes. You can also edit photos while in the camera app and save them to the gallery
The Battery
It comes with a removable 2500 mAh battery with various power modes to help keep the charge longer and optimize your experience
It retails online at Jumia for 14,999 which seems about right for what you get here, coming with the lime and chocolate colour options.
